Who is Merryweather Design? Merryweather Design is the business name of Sole Trader Mary Carter. It is a new business and has been formed after many years working within the industry. I am a qualified professional graphic designer who has over 10 years commercial experience. My reasons for becoming self-employed were simple – I needed to stretch my wings and offer a more personal service which will benefit many people. I come from a very artistic background which has only helped me in my work, although being a bit of a perfectionist can be a pain. My roots are in print design, but over the last 5 years I have become more involved in web design. To be honest web development is not my field of expertise but I have worked closely with programmers to create many types of websites and applications, I have found that this has been an advantage. General facts about Merryweather Design... Merryweather is the surname of my long term partner, and will become my Surname, I think it is a wonderful word and fits in perfectly with the image I wish to portray, which is sunny and friendly. For my logo and website I thought I would do something to reflect the company name. There is no specific theme, except the relationship with nature, butterflies (from the logo) and subject matters which are summery and pleasant to the eye. I chose butterflies as my main theme because they reflect the design process perfectly. Butterflies start life as something small and quite simple and transform into something magnificent, colourful and sophisticated!
